SCREENING FOR PREREQUISITES

Education – Essential requirement

For Summer 2017 positions: You must be registred to full-time* studies at a recognized postsecondary institution** in Autumn 2017. A proof of registration will be required.

For Fall 2017 and Winter 2018 positions: You must be registred at a recognized postsecondary institution** during the term for which you will be hired. A proof of registration will be required.

*or part-time basis due to a disability, as recognized by the academic institution

A **recognized postsecondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism.

DISCRETIONARY ASSESSMENT

Please note that the qualifications assessed will depend on the position being staffed. Without limitation, it could include one or many of the following qualifications:

• Ability to work on a team
• Client focus attitude
• Ability to communicate verbally
• Ability to organise a workload
• Reliability
• Professionalism

A passmark of 60% will be required for each qualification assessed using a locally developed tool.

  • You are expected to make yourself available for assessments when scheduled, at your own expense. There will be no rescheduling without extenuating circumstances. If you fail to present yourself at your scheduled testing session, you will not be considered further.
  • Bilingualism: Some positions may require students to be able to work in both official languages, English and French. In the event that a position requires a bilingual capacity, managers may assess the students' second language proficiency using a locally developed assessment tool (LDT).

Discretionary Education, Abilities, Knowledge and/or Skills
Certain levels of education, specializations, fields of study, knowledge, abilities and/or skills may be considered as an asset. It will vary depending upon the position being staffed.

Discretionary Experience
Experience relevant to the position being staffed may be considered as an asset. Experience can be demonstrated through employment, volunteer work, student employment and/or scholastic activity or achievement. Experience may be validated, and references may be required.

You will be eligible to receive pay based on the Students Rates of Pay as set annually by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.
