Please note that various student level jobs may be staffed from this process with hourly salary ranges of $13.47 to $21.64.

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad who are currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies and who will be returning to full-time studies in the Fall of 2018. Part-time students are eligible to apply if they have a recognized disability, and are returning to part-time studies in the Fall of 2018.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order.

Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in St. John's, NL and Mount Pearl, NL only and as a result, we will expect candidates appointed from this process to work from either of these locations. You will have to pay any expenses (i.e. travel, relocation, etc.) related to relocation.

*Please note: All testing will take place in St. John's, NL and as such, candidates who wish to apply must be in St. John's at the time of testing.

If so, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) offers motivated individuals a challenging, interesting and diverse workplace that will help you to develop your skills and further your career advancement. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are looking to gain valuable work experience in a large federal organization. Canada Revenue Agency is accepting applications from students with various linguistic profiles (Unilingual English or Bilingual English/French) with the objective of building a general student database for the CRA at all three of our locations.

The key activities of various positions may include but are not limited to the following:

- Receive, review, analyze, and research taxpayer information from internal and external sources to identify and resolve taxpayer accounts requiring corrective action, such as misallocated payments, or compliance action, requirements to file, and issue assessments according to the income tax act.
- Respond to taxpayer enquiries and complaints relating to a variety of issues associated with Accounts and the various social programs administered by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Interview taxpayers, their representatives or third parties mainly by phone to determine reasons for non-compliance; explain policies and procedures; and arrange to collect any outstanding returns or amounts.
- Participate in projects designed to identify areas of non-compliance.
- Initiate legal actions (i.e. garnishees) and make recommendations to progress non-compliant accounts

There are various shift arrangements available and we have the flexibility to accommodate your academic schedule. Should you be scheduled to work evenings and/or weekends an additional shift premium is payable to you.

Education:

Candidates must be returning to full-time studies in the next academic term. Please note, you must provide proof of current full-time enrolment from a *recognized postsecondary institution.

You must upload into your candidate profile your proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution before submitting your application. If you do not provide proof of enrollment, your candidacy may not be considered further.

A *recognized postsecondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. The institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.


Experience:

Experience is NOT required to be considered for this staffing process. You will receive training, on the job coaching and you will be supported in your learning and professional development.

Previous experience working with the Canada Revenue Agency would be considered an asset.
