Students1 living in Canada and students1 who are Canadian Citizens living abroad.

  • 1 Students: Students must have been enrolled in full-time studies in the Winter 2017 at a recognized secondary or postsecondary institution2 and must be returning to full-time studies in the Fall of 2017 at a recognized postsecondary institution2, or be full-time students in the Summer 2017 at a postsecondary institution2. Students must also have at least one of the specializations3 of the application questionnaire. Students enrolled in school on a part-time basis due to a disability, as recognized by the academic institution, are also considered eligible for employment as a student at the CRA.
  • 2A recognized postsecondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism.   • This staffing process will be used to staff student positions in Ottawa, Ontario only. If you are residing elsewhere than within a commuting distance of Ottawa, you must be willing and able to travel and relocate within a commuting distance of Ottawa. You will have to pay any expenses (i.e. travel, relocation, etc.).
  • If you are a non-Canadian citizen, you may apply. However, preference will be given to Canadian citizens who meet the job requirements.

We are currently looking for talented students to fill a variety of exciting and challenging full-time and part-time positions over the Summer 2017 in various areas. The job duties will vary depending on the position.

Essential Assessment

Your performance will be assessed through reference check(s) at the appointment stage.

Assessment - Asset

  • Depending on the position, you may be assessed using a Standardized assessment of the Canada Revenue Agency and/or of the Public Service Commission and/or a locally developed assessment tool.
  • The required pass mark will depend on the position being staffed. A top-down approach may be used.
  • Results from Standardized Tests are portable to other staffing processes. Results from locally developed assessment tools are not portable to other staffing processes.
  • You are expected to make yourself available for assessments when scheduled, at your own expense. There will be no rescheduling without extenuating circumstances. If you fail to present yourself at your scheduled testing session, you will not be considered further.
  • Bilingualism: Some positions may require students to be able to work in both official languages, English and French. In the event that a position requires a bilingual capacity, managers may assess the students' second language proficiency using a locally developed assessment tool.

Education, Abilities, Knowledge and/or Skills - Asset
Certain levels of education, specializations, fields of study, knowledge, abilities and/or skills may be considered as an asset for some positions. It will vary depending upon the position being staffed.

Experience - Asset
As indicated above, experience relevant to the position being staffed may be considered as an asset. Experience can be demonstrated through employment, volunteer work, student employment and/or scholastic activity or achievement. Experience may be validated, and references may be required.

Conditions of Employment

For all positions:

-Candidates must meet the minimum age requirement to work in the province of Ontario;
-Security Status/Clearance: Most positions require a security clearance of "Reliability Status", but some positions may require a higher security clearance level. More information on security is available in the General information section.

For some positions:

- Willingness and ability to work overtime;
- Willingness and ability to work on evenings and/or on weekends;
- Willingness and ability to shift work or based on flex time (including weekends and designated days).
