1 An indigenous person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, a Métis or an Inuit. 2 Students:

  • For Summer 2017 positions: Students must be/have been enrolled in full-time3 studies in the Winter of 2017 at a recognized postsecondary institution4 and must be returning to full-time3 studies in the Fall of 2017and have at least one of the specializations5 of the application questionnaire.
  • For Fall 2017 and Winter 2018 positions: Students must be enrolled in full-time3 studies at a recognized postsecondary institution during the term for which they will be hired and have at least one of the specializations of the application questionnaire.
  • 3 Students enrolled in school on a part-time basis due to a disability, as recognized by the academic institution, are also considered eligible for employment as a student at the CRA.
  • 4 A recognized post-secondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. The institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

  • If you are residing elsewhere than within a commuting distance of the locations listed above, you must be willing and able to travel and relocate within a commuting distance. You will have to pay any expenses (i.e. travel, relocation, etc.).

  • The essential education verification will be completed at the appointment stage.

Essential Assessment

Your performance will be assessed through reference check(s) at the appointment stage.

Asset Assessment

•Depending on the position, you may be assessed using a Standardized assessment of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and/or of the Public Service Commission (PSC), a locally developed assessment tool (LDT), an interview and/or reference check.
•The required pass mark will depend on the position being staffed. A top-down approach may be used.
•Results from Standardized Tests are portable to other staffing processes. Results from locally developed assessment tools (LDTs) are not portable to other staffing processes.
•You are expected to make yourself available for assessments when scheduled, at your own expense. There will be no rescheduling without extenuating circumstances. If you fail to present yourself at your scheduled testing session, you will not be considered further.
•Bilingualism: Some positions may require students to be able to work in both official languages, English and French. In the event that a position requires a bilingual capacity, managers may assess the students' second language proficiency using a locally developed assessment tool (LDT).

Discretionary Education, Abilities, Knowledge and/or Skills
Certain levels of education, specializations, fields of study, knowledge, abilities and/or skills may be considered as an asset for some positions. It will vary depending upon the position being staffed.

You will be eligible to receive pay based on the Students Rates of Pay as set annually by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.

Security Status/Clearance

An integral part of the Personnel Screening Program requires that all candidates being appointed into the CRA be subject to a reliability check. This includes the verification of reliability, employment history, and police records and could include fingerprinting. The Personnel Screening Program was implemented to protect information that is departmentally sensitive or sensitive to the national interest by ensuring that all persons engaged by CRA meet standards of reliability, trustworthiness and loyalty required by the nature of their duties or tasks.

When attending any tests and/or interview sessions, candidates may be required to complete Personnel Screening forms so that a reliability check can be conducted. When completing the personnel security clearance form, you will be required to provide complete addresses for the places you resided in the last FIVE YEARS, including the year(s) and month(s) for each residence. If you were residing outside of Canada in the last five years, you may experience a delay in obtaining a security status/clearance.

In addition, candidates may be required to provide the original and photocopies of two of the documents listed below. Please note that one must be a photo ID. Photocopying services will not be provided.
