2 Students must be enrolled in:

  • Full time studies at a recognized post-secondary institution3 during the school terms immediately preceding and following the work term(s) for which they are applying AND be enrolled in one of the program specializations indicated in the application questionnaire.

  • Part-time studies due to a disability at a recognized post-secondary institution3 during the school terms immediately preceding and following the work term(s) for which they are applying AND be enrolled in one of the program specializations indicated in the application questionnaire.
3 A recognized post-secondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. The institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

The essential education requirements may not be fully verified until the appointment stage.

Note:

Your application will be screened based on the work terms4 and offices5 you apply for on the mandatory application questionnaire.

Generally speaking, work terms will be for the following periods:

  • A current screen shot or print of your current transcripts, course enrolment or billings from a recognized post-secondary institution that includes your name, the institution's name, the date and clearly demonstrates the full or part time enrollment under which you are applying.

Essential education, specialization(s), and knowledge:

The level of education, specialization(s) and/or required knowledge will vary depending on the position being staffed. For example students enrolled in accounting or auditing programs may be given preference when those jobs are being staffed.

Essential Experience:
You are not required to have previous work experience to apply.

Asset Experience:
Experience relevant to the position being staffed may be applied at appointment. It is to your advantage to list any of the below experience you may have in the resume you attach to your application:

  • Experience in accounting;
  • Experience in auditing;
  • Experience in bookkeeping;
  • Experience in client service offered over the phone or face to face;
  • Experience in data analytics;
  • Experience in managing accounts payable over the phone or face to face;
  • Experience in Human Resources;
  • Experience inputting and maintaining information in data systems;
  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote;
  • Experience managing the calendar of activities for a senior manager, including the scheduling of meetings and travel, preparing agendas, minutes of meetings, memos, and following-up on outstanding issues;
  • Experience preparing and/or delivering training;
  • Experience planning and organizing meetings or events;
  • Experience providing administrative support services;
  • Experience providing financial analysis;
  • Experience researching/interpreting legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Experience using Corporate Administrative System;
  • Working knowledge of Inuktitut and/or Inuktitun;
  • Working knowledge in Indigenous languages native to Ontario and Nunavut;
  • Other relevant experience

Any essential staffing requirements indicated below will be assessed/applied at a later date. Any discretionary staffing requirements indicated below may be applied/assessed at a later date.

Asset Assessments

Depending on the position, you may be assessed using a Standardized Assessment of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and/or of the Public Service Commission (PSC), a locally developed assessment tool (LDT), an interview and/or reference check.

  • The required pass mark(s) will be determined by the hiring manager. A top-down approach may be used.

  • Bilingual positions: Some positions may require students to be able to work in both official languages; English and French. In the event that a position requires a bilingual capacity, managers may assess the students' second language proficiency using a locally developed assessment tool (LDT).

Results from Standardized Tests are portable to other staffing processes. Results from locally developed assessment tools (LDTs) are not portable to other staffing processes.

You are expected to make yourself available for assessments when scheduled, at your own expense. There will be no rescheduling without extenuating circumstances, which we will evaluate on a case by case basis. If you fail to present yourself at your scheduled testing or interview session, you will be deemed to have withdrawn from this process and will not be considered further.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Driver's License or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license;
  • Willingness to work on evenings and/or on weekends;

  • Willingness to shift work or based on flex time (including weekends and designated days)

You will be eligible to receive pay based on the Student Rates of Pay as set annually by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.
