Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in Saint John New Brunswick or Halifax Nova Scotia only. As a result, we will expect candidates appointed from this process to relocate to this location. Candidates from the general public will have to pay any expenses related to relocation as well as any travel for assessments.

Duties

• Providing appraisal reports, advice and expert opinion concerning tangible property including the most complex real estate.

• Participating in preparing and evaluating completed appraisals in order to maintain the required work standards and to ensure that professional appraisal principles, techniques and approaches are applied.

• Providing service through promoting effective communication internally with staff and management and externally with taxpayers and/or representatives.

• Act as an expert witness in Court and provide consultative services to the Tax Services Offices.

SCREENING FOR PREREQUISITES

Education- Essential

A successfully completed study program set by the Appraisal Institute of Canada (A.I.C.) and possess the designation Accredited Appraiser of the Canadian Institute (AACI)

or

At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

You must upload into the Education section of your Candidate Profile proof of your education credentials (e.g. copies of designations/transcripts, diplomas/degrees) demonstrating that you meet the essential education requirement for the position being staffed.

And/or

Provide your AIC membership number.

Experience - Essential requirement

Experience in complex commercial and residential appraisals and experience preparing appraisal reports of all types of property, in accordance with the Canadian Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP)

And,

A minimum of 36 months real estate appraisal experience within the past 5 years is required.

Testing sessions will be scheduled during the day. Candidates are expected to make themselves available for assessment when scheduled. Please note that there will be no rescheduling without extenuating circumstances.
