Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in Mount Pearl (NL) and St. John's (NL). As a result, we will expect candidates appointed from this process to relocate to this location. Candidates from the general public will have to pay any expenses related to relocation as well as any travel for assessments.

Duties

Researching, analyzing, verifying, processing and resolving internally generated files or requests from internal or external clients regarding prescribed forms and returns, based on the various relevant legislation, manuals, guides and publications, in accordance with all policies and procedures.

Analyzing and resolving complex complaints and requests for information from internal or external clients.

Reviewing files or requests to ensure accuracy and consistency with policies and procedures.

Meeting and maintaining production and accuracy standards in all assigned workflows.

Ensuring priorities are identified and assisting toward program mandates.

Gathering information from taxpayers and researching possible responses or solutions in order to accurately respond to their enquiries. Providing explanations and/or clarifications to taxpayers over the telephone in response to enquiries concerning the filing and processing of Individual tax returns, explaining various social programs administered by the CRA and making appropriate referrals. Performing various calculations on taxpayers' accounts and informing the taxpayer of the findings. Contact may be required with taxpayer representatives or with officials of other agencies.

Offering quality client service to meet the taxpayers'/benefits recipients' needs. Demonstrating courtesy, empathy and professionalism.

Education – Essential requirement

A secondary school diploma or CRA-approved alternatives

All candidates must provide a proof of education which includes a copy of the secondary school diploma or secondary school equivalence test. You must attach a copy of your proof of education on your Candidate Profile before submitting your application.

If you do not provide proof of education, your candidacy will not be considered further – NO exceptions.

CRA will accept foreign credentials as long as they are considered acceptable by a recognized Canadian educational institution. Candidates with foreign education credentials are required to provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Any applicable fees are the responsibility of the candidate. The following qualifications will be assessed using a standardized test:

Second Language Evaluation (SLE). Required levels are (CBC/CBC), (BBC/BBC).

Judgment in work related situations - Situational Judgment Test (SJT-Rec) will be administered to assess this qualification – Pass mark 55/102

Candidates who have to write the SJT and those who are eligible to rewrite will be given the opportunity. Please note that there will be no rescheduling of the test. If you do not present yourself at the testing session, you will be deemed to have withdrawn from the process.

Positions to be staffed from this staffing process will be bilingual. Candidates must be able to work in both official languages, English and French. Second Language Evaluation (SLE) testing will be administered, as required, using the Public Service Commission's SLE tests.
