*Students:
  • For fall 2017 and winter 2018 positions, you must be enrolled in full-time** studies at a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • For summer 2018 positions, you must be enrolled in full-time** studies at a recognized postsecondary institution during the summer 2018 or in the fall 2018.
  • You must select at least one of the specializations that appear in the application questionnaire.
  • **If you are enrolled in part-time studies at an educational institution due to disability, as recognized by your academic institution, you are equally eligible for a student employment at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Notes:

  • This staffing process will be used to staff student positions in Ottawa, Ontario only. If you are residing elsewhere than within a reasonable commuting distance from Ottawa, you must be willing and able to relocate to a reasonable distance from Ottawa. You will have to pay any expenses (i.e. travel, relocation, etc.).
  • If you are a non-Canadian citizen, you may apply. However, preference will be given to Canadian citizens who meet the job requirements.
  • The essential education verification will be completed at the appointment stage.
  • This notice of job opportunity will be posted (and open to candidates) three times this academic year (2017-2018) but you only need to apply once:

Essential Assessment

Your performance will be assessed through reference check(s) at appointment.

Assessment - Asset

  • Depending on the position, you may be assessed using one of more standardized assessment tools of the Canada Revenue Agency and/or of the Public Service Commission and/or one or more locally developed assessment tools.
  • The required pass mark will depend on the position being staffed. A top-down approach may be used.
  • Results from Standardized Tests are transferrable to other staffing processes. Results from locally developed assessment tools however, are not transferrable to other staffing processes.
  • When scheduled, you are expected to make yourself available for assessments, at your own expense. There will be no rescheduling outside of extenuating circumstances. If you fail to present yourself at your scheduled testing session, you will not be considered further.
  • You are not required to have previous work experience to apply. However, experience relevant to the position being staffed may be considered as an asset.
  • Bilingualism: Some positions may require students to be able to work in both official languages, English and French. In the event that a position requires a bilingual capacity, managers may assess the students' second language proficiency.li>

Education, Abilities, Knowledge and/or Skills - Asset
Certain levels of education, specializations, fields of study, knowledge, abilities and/or skills may be considered as an asset for some positions. It will vary depending upon the position being staffed.

Experience - Asset
You are not required to have previous work experience to apply. However, experience relevant to the position being staffed may be considered as an asset. Experience can be demonstrated through employment, volunteer work, student employment and/or extra-curricular activity or achievement. Experience may be validated, and references may be required.

Conditions of Employment

For all positions:

-Candidates must be legally eligible / entitled to work in the province of Ontario.
-Security Status/Clearance: Most positions require a security clearance of "Reliability Status", but some positions may require a higher security clearance level.

For some positions:

- Willingness and ability to work overtime;
- Willingness and ability to work on evenings and/or weekends;
- Willingness and ability to do work shift work or flexible schedules (including weekends and designated holidays).

One or more pool of eligible candidates will be established for this staffing process. This staffing process may be used to staff similar positions in Ottawa, ON.

When you apply to this staffing process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment. Therefore, not all students will be contacted.

You may fall under one of the following categories, based on your level of education:

  • SU-02 College/CEGEP Student ($12.93 to $17.31)
  • SU-03 University Undergraduate ($13.47 to $21.64)
  • SU-04 Masters ($18.91 to $23.78)
  • SU-05 Doctorate ($21.84 to $25.94)

You will be eligible to receive pay based on the Students Rates of Pay .

Communication during the staffing process

You must notify the staffing board of any planned leaves. Use the contact email address at the end of this notice. Also, if necessary, you can update your email address in your Candidate profile by selecting Preferences and indicating the appropriate email address to be used to communicate with you.

Appointment

Before proceeding with appointments from this staffing process, the manager will give priority for appointment to individuals with CRA preferred status.
