Who can apply

Persons living in Canada and Canadian Citizens living abroad who are currently enrolled in full-time studies at a recognized postsecondary institution and who will be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2018. Students enrolled in studies on a part-time basis due to a disability that is recognized by their academic institution and returning to part-time studies in the fall of 2018 are also eligible to apply.

Duties

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most provinces and territories, and administers various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.

Some of the key duties that students might perform may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing explanations and/or clarification to clients over the telephone in response to enquiries concerning the filing and processing of individual tax returns.
  • Obtaining and analyzing information concerning adjustments to tax returns and/or explaining various social programs administered by the CRA.
  • Providing a variety of administrative support services using various computer software programs.
  • Processing and data entry, searching databases and producing reports.
  • Communicating with a variety of internal and external clients, providing information or advice.
  • Analyzing financial and non-financial information.
Please note that positions in Corporate areas may also be staffed from this process. Corporate areas include: Corporate Services, Communications, Finance and Administration and Human Resources.

Education – Essential requirement

Students must be currently enrolled in full-time studies1 at a recognized2 postsecondary institution and must be returning to full-time studies in the Fall of 2018. Areas of study include but are not limited to the following:

Business Administration, Auditing, Finance, Marketing, Project Management, Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Human Resources Management, International Business and Management, Public Administration, Statistics, Commerce, Industrial Relations, Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Economics, Philosophy, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour and Industrial Relations, Labour Law, Political Science, Social Sciences, Organizational Behavior and Development or Education, Computer Science, Information Technology, Macro-Economic Theory, Risk Analysis and Management and any other relevant field.

1Students enrolled in studies on a part-time basis due to a disability that is recognized by their academic institution are also eligible to apply.

2A recognized postsecondary institution is defined as a Canadian public or private institution that is recognized or authorized to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of the provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. The institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

An integral part of the Personnel Screening Program requires that all candidates being appointed into the CRA be subject to a reliability check.
