About the job

Don't miss out on your opportunity to work for one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada!

Are you an Indigenous student? Come work at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)! Your talent, creativity and knowledge will be great assets to us and we can offer you valuable work experience.

As part of our Indigenous Student Employment Program, you will join a community of Indigenous students who are working towards their education and career goals.  Working at the CRA will help you to:

  • grow your professional network,
  • refine your skills and learn new ones,
  • gain experience working in an office environment; and
  • do meaningful and valuable work that matters to Canadians.

If you're studying Accounting you may already know a little bit about us, but you should also know that we are more than just taxes! Our students work in a variety of programs, including Scientific Research and Development, Human Resources, Client Services, Community Outreach, Information Technology and Criminal Investigations. Our jobs are a great place to improve your communication skills, learn to handle difficult situations and sharpen your written communication, no matter what you are currently studying.

"I came into the CRA as an ISEP student in June 2017 through an email I received asking for applicants. I was nervous at the time, especially because I have no background in taxes or accounting. My fellow employees were very supportive and through their help and personal effort I was able to get into the flow of things."

– Corey, Current CRA employee

We will be reviewing applications as we receive them, and making job offers for the summer work term (June 2019 - August 2019) to eligible students right away, so be sure to apply as soon as possible. We will continue accepting applications and making job offers to students throughout the Summer.  Depending on your availability, there are full-time and part-time positions available.

When you apply to this staffing process, you are not applying to a specific job, but to an inventory for vacancies. The job duties will vary depending on the position you are hired for. Our goal is to match you to a position that will allow you to develop skills related to your education/experience or to a position that aligns with your field of post-secondary study.

You will be eligible to receive pay based on your level of education and the Students Rates of Pay as set annually by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.

This staffing process will be used to staff student positions in the following work locations: Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Kelowna, Penticton & Prince George. If you are residing elsewhere than within a commuting distance of your work location, you must be willing and able to travel and relocate within a commuting distance of your work location. You will have to pay any expenses (i.e. travel, relocation, etc.).

Assessment

Asset Staffing Requirements

Suitability

We may gather information to determine what positions are a good fit for you.

Education/Knowledge

For some assignments, it is preferred that you are studying in a related post-secondary field or have completed specific courses. Many of our jobs do not require any specific education, so don't be discouraged - there is a place for everyone at the CRA!

Conditions of employment

For some jobs we have specific requirements, which are known as conditions of employment. These conditions help us place students into appropriate positions. Everyone is required to meet the essential conditions, but the asset conditions are not needed for all of our jobs, so you aren't required to meet all of the asset conditions to work for us.
