Employees are required to work on-site in accordance with the CRA's requirement for on-site presence. Job duties
Successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the organization's Information Technology (IT) environment and a wide range of IT services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the activities identified in one of the two streams outlined below:
IT Infrastructure Support Analyst (Stream 1) :
- Installing, integrating, configuring, monitoring and testing components in the computing environment;
- Installing, maintaining, supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting public interface devices, such as public information terminals in kiosks, web sites and automated call centres, and software on multiple platforms;
- Logging, monitoring, investigating and resolving problems;
- Updating and maintaining hardware and software inventory and monitoring system component performance and usage;
- Providing technical advice to colleagues and clients;
- Preparing local guidelines, procedures, reports and documents;
- Supporting backup and recovery processes and procedures for the computing environment;
- Administering and issuing user Identification's (ID), user profiles and security passwords;
- Ensuring that security policies, standards and procedures are followed and understood; and
- Assessing the impact of hardware and software changes on the computing environment; and identifying IT procurement requirements.
IT Developer (Stream 2) :
- Programming IT solutions;
- Testing IT solutions and products;
- Writing technical specifications and documentation;
- Identifying and resolving problems;
- Providing technical assistance to colleagues and clients;
- Contributing to the enhancement of procedures;
Language Requirements
We're looking to staff positions that may require one of the following linguistic requirement:

This process will be used to establish a pool of successful candidates. Screening, assessment, and appointments may be conducted on an ongoing basis, in accordance with operational requirements, while the process remains open. What to expect in this role
At the CRA, the systems you build, maintain, and support are used every day by millions of Canadians, as well as by employees delivering public services across the country. You will work in a large, dynamic IT environment supporting these critical systems.
In this role, your responsibilities may include (stream 1):
- Providing first-level technical support to employees in person or remotely.
- Supporting and maintaining IT infrastructure, including laptops, workstations, and servers.
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Monitoring system performance and ensuring secure, reliable operations.
- Administering user accounts, security credentials, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
Depending on your team, you may work with a range of technologies and platforms, including (stream 2):
- Commercial off-the-shelf solutions such as SAP and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Application development technologies (e.g., Java, Angular, COBOL).
- Data, analytics, and Artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Python, Datastage, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight, Cognos).
- Large-scale environments and solutions running on cloud, mainframe, and/or distributed infrastructure.

Essential staffing requirements
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.
Education (for both streams)
- Meet the CRA's minimum education standard for CS positions.(Alternatives will not be accepted)

Note: Candidates with foreign education credentials must have their education confirmed by a recognized credential assessment service.
Any of the following documents may be used as proof of education (Include everything possible to help review your program of study relating to the standard.):
- Diploma or degree; or
- Canadian equivalency for foreign degrees; or
- Official transcript indicating graduation status with a signature and/or school seal; or
- Letter of attestation that includes:
- Clear mention you have graduated with no conditions; and
- Your graduation date; and
- Signature of the Registrar (or an official member of the institution, for example, the Academic Chair).
There are two (2) streams within this Staffing Process:
Stream one (1): IT Infrastructure Support Analyst
Stream two (2): IT Developer
Candidates must indicate which stream(s) they wish to apply for at the time of application. If you have the skills required for both positions and are interested, we encourage you to apply for both streams.

Second Language Evaluation
Candidates interested in a bilingual position must be able to demonstrate their capabilities to work in English and French by achieving at least BBB levels on the Public Service Commission's (PSC) Second Language Evaluation (SLE) curriculum. The test is designed to evaluate second language proficiency to the required linguistic profile of BBB : B level for Reading Proficiency, B level for Written Expression, and B level for Oral Proficiency.
If you have previously written the SLE and require a copy of your results, you may request a copy from the PSC.
