A few key activities could include :


  • Auditing taxpayers’ returns, books, records, taxpayer requests, and supporting documents to confirm and enforce compliance with the statutes administered by the CRA. Prepares working papers, letters and reports to support work completed and compiles asset information to assist in the collection of taxpayer indebtedness.
  • Planning how the audit will be conducted; reviews documents and researches legislation, jurisprudence, publications and policies.
  • Discussing with taxpayers and/or their representatives technical and contentious issues, proposed reassessments, and recommendations regarding penalties and consideration of waiving of interest.


  • An Income Tax Auditor will audit of returns, assigned in accordance with the Planning Guidelines, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Income Tax Act and other statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).


  • An Excise Tax Auditor/Examiner will audit and examination of returns and/or applications, assigned in accordance with the Planning Guidelines, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Excise Tax Act and other statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Virtual reporting may be possible, if operational requirements permit.

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad who will be graduating from a recognized or authorized post-secondary institution (e.g. college, CEGEP, university) with acceptable specialization in accounting between September 2022 and June 2023.

Preference for appointment will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in the Atlantic Region. To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.


degree or diploma from a recognized postsecondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting received between September 2022 and June 2023

For AU-01 positions:

The CRA’s minimum education standard for AU.     

For SP-05 positions:

The CRA’s minimum education standard for SP jobs requiring intermediate accounting: SP Accounting
