The job duties will vary depending on the position. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

SP-05 Salary Range - $62,858 to $70,749

  • Audit and examination of taxpayers' returns, books, records, taxpayer requests, and supporting documents to confirm and enforce compliance with the statutes administered by the CRA.


  • Examines objections, requests for appeal and/or assessment, requests for fairness reviews, makes decisions that will confirm, vacate or vary the notice of objection, request for appeal or notice of assessment.

SP-06 Salary Range - $68,012 to $76,545

  • Replies to issues raised and other dispute requests filed by taxpayers and/or their representatives or received from the Ombudsman Liaison Office.
  • Settles notices of objection, discretionary requests for review, requests to extend deadlines, requests under the Fairness Program and other requests filed by taxpayers and/or their representatives.


  • Enforcement of employer compliance related to the reporting of taxable benefits and income from office or employment, including related withholding and remitting requirements.


  • Audit and examination of returns and/or applications to ensure compliance with statutes administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).


  • Performing taxpayer audits, regulatory reviews, licensing/registration, and providing technical advice to ensure compliance with CRA-administered excise duty and tax legislation.

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements.


A secondary school diploma AND

Successful completion of the following courses or field of studies from a recognized postsecondary institution or from a recognized professional accounting association:

    • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Intermediate Financial Reporting 2; OR
    • FA3; OR
    • Intermediate Financial Accounting 2; OR
    • Intermediate Accounting 2.

Depending on the position to be staffed, you may have to satisfy other conditions of employment which may include:

  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid Driver's license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
  • Willingness to work on evenings and/or on weekends
  • Willingness to work shifts or a flexible schedule (including weekends and statutory holidays)
  • Physically work from CRA worksites in the Ontario Region
