As a Taxpayer Services Agent, you must:

Respond to a variety of enquiries or requests related to Individuals income tax matters, CRA administered programs and related individuals account.

Perform various calculations to determine tax or CRA administered program requirements, elections, entitlements, or administrative relief.

Accept payment arrangements where applicable and authorized, within established parameters.

Bilingual imperative CBC (QRCC), Bilingual imperative BBB (Shawinigan NVCC) and French and English essential appointments may be possible based on operational needs.

The pool established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions in other offices in the Quebec region.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, public health recommendations and restrictions are in place across Canada and may change depending on circumstances. Therefore, most work is done remotely and virtually. However, office attendance may eventually be required when normal operations resume. Virtual reporting may remain possible (occasionally), if operational requirements permit.

Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

Essential staffing requirement(s)

To be eligible, you need to possess one of the following work experiences AND meet the education standard related to this experience:

EDUCATION 1 / EXPERIENCE 1

A bachelor's degree (or higher) from a recognized University in one of the following fields: accounting, finance, administration, business administration, commerce, management or equivalent.

If you have such a diploma, no experience is required

OR

EDUCATION 2 / EXPERIENCE 2

A certificate or post-secondary diploma or high school diploma or vocational studies issued by a recognized educational institution*.

If you have such a diploma, you must possess a work experience of 12 consecutive months normally acquired in the past 5 years in a field from the list below:

  • Customer service (including in person, by phone, letter or chatting)
  • Accounting, Finance, (including income tax filling)
  • Call center
  • Collections
  • Organization's Internal service to employees (such as Information Technology, purchasing, others)
  • Receptionist
  • Combination of the above

Experience Demonstration

In your Profile, in section « Experience », you must clearly demonstrate how you possess 12 months within the last 5 years in the selected field above. Default to provide this information will result in your candidacy being denied.

EDUCATION 1 or EDUCATION 2 requirements

In order to demonstrate that you meet the education requirement, you must upload your proof of education in the Candidate profile's "Education" section at the latest when you submit your application. Failure to do so may result in your application being denied.

  • Click on "Number of attachments" for the relevant level of education for which you have a diploma/comparative evaluation
  • You should now be at the page titled "Manage education attachment"

IMPORTANT: You must have successfully COMPLETED all requirements for the degree and HAVE BEEN CONFERRED the DIPLOMA or provided the proof that you met all requirements to obtain the diploma.

*To be recognized, the institution must be listed in the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

If you have a diploma issued by an institution outside Canada, you must provide a COMPARATIVE EVALUATION FOR STUDIES DONE OUTSIDE QUÉBEC issued by the Québec's Immigration, Diversity and inclusion Ministry or the equivalent issued by any Canadian province.

Assessment

Essentials

The essential staffing requirements indicated below will be assessed during the process and may be used to identify candidates for positions. Asset staffing requirements may also be assessed during the staffing process and may be used to identify candidates for positions.

STEP 1 – Second language evaluation

Positions to be appointed from this process will be bilingual. Candidates must be ready to work in both official languages, in French and in English. The second language evaluations (SLE) will be performed using the SLE tests from The Public Service Commission of Canada.

Languages requirements: Bilingual imperative (CBC)

The second language evaluation will be done in three intervals:

  • Reading comprehension (RC)
  • Written Expression (WE)
  • Test of Oral Proficiency (TOP)

Please note that candidates who wish to participate in this staffing process must be available between 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday, in order to complete different steps in this process (dates to be confirmed). Failure to attend one of the dates can result in the denial of your application.

All evaluations will be conducted virtually.

If you have valid results for the Second language Evaluation (SLE) from the Public Service Commission of Canada, for one more exams listed above, please attach to your Candidate's Profile, the official documents showing the obtained results.

STEP 2 – Professionalism and Ethics

This qualification will be evaluated throughout all phases of the selection process using principles governing ethics and professionalism by direct or indirect observations. Therefore a candidate who would show lack of ethic or professionalism could be excluded from the process without warning.

STEP 3 - References / Employment attestation

STEP 4 – Clearance certificate.

If you were successful in all previous steps of the staffing process, you could receive a job proposal conditional to security check.

Please note if you resided outside of Canada for a period longer than six (6) months within the past (5) five years, you must possess a good conduct certificate issued by the related country's Embassy.
