We are currently seeking talented candidates to fill various Audit positions. Potential positions to be staffed via this process include: Income Tax Auditor and Excise Tax Auditor.
A few key activities include :
- Auditing taxpayers’ returns, books, records, taxpayer requests, and supporting documents to confirm and enforce compliance with the statutes administered by the CRA. Prepares working papers, letters and reports to support work completed and compiles asset information to assist in the collection of taxpayer indebtedness.
- Planning how the audit will be conducted; reviews documents and researches legislation, jurisprudence, publications and policies.
- Discussing with taxpayers and/or their representatives technical and contentious issues, proposed reassessments, and recommendations regarding penalties and consideration of waiving of interest.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public health recommendations and restrictions are in place across Canada and may change as circumstances evolve. Intent of the process:
We will create various pools depending on the staffing requirements of the positions (i.e. relevant experience, location, language requirements). The pool established from this staffing process may be used to staff similar positions.
Who can apply
Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad.
Preference for appointment will be given to eligible veterans and Canadian Forces members, Canadian citizens and permanent residents, in that order.
AND individuals with preferred status who live or work within the general rule of minimum distance of the position(s) being staffed.
Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in the Atlantic Region. If you are a candidate from the general public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process. Candidates will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred location(s) of work during the process.
Qualified members and former members of the Canadian Forces who receive an offer of employment are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

The CRA will accept foreign credentials as long as they are considered acceptable by a recognized Canadian educational institution. We may use the following asset staffing requirements to screen applications and may limit the number of candidates to be considered further in this staffing process by using a top-down approach.
