This staffing process may be used to staff a variety of positions in CRA offices across Ontario. Positions will be staffed in various areas within the CRA business lines, such as Accounting/Auditing, Scientific Research and Experimental Development, Human Resources, Client Services, Community Outreach, Information Technology, Criminal Investigations and many more. The following groups and levels will be staffed from this staffing process:

  • SP-03 Positions – (salary range $56,608 to $62,486)
  • SP-04 Positions –  (salary range $62,083 to $69,874)
  • SP-05 Positions –  (salary range $67,195 to $75,631)

Who can apply

Persons living in Canada and Canadian citizens living abroad who have graduated, or will be graduating, from a recognized or authorized post-secondary institution (e.g. college, CEGEP, university) between July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024.

Preference will be given to veterans, Canadian citizens, and permanent residents who meet the job requirements.

Please note that this process will be used to staff positions in Ontario. If you are a candidate from the general public, you will have to pay for any expenses related to your participation in this staffing process, as well as any relocation costs if you receive an offer of employment from this process.

Qualified veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces who are appointed are not entitled to relocation costs from the CRA. They may, however, be entitled to a final relocation from the Department of National Defence.

 

ESSENTIAL STAFFING REQUIREMENT(S)

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

 

Education

You must have obtained a diploma, advanced diploma, degree, applied degree, masters, or PhD from a recognized or authorized postsecondary institution (e.g. college, CEGEP, university) conferred between July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2024.

Candidates who meet all prerequisite requirements and have graduated – you must upload your proof of graduation to the Education section of your Candidate Profile at the time of your application.

Candidates who meet all prerequisite requirements but have not yet graduated are still encouraged to apply prior to the closing date, but will be temporarily placed on hold pending graduation.  Only upon submission of your transcripts/diploma showing you have met the above education requirement will we be able to proceed with a second round of testing and consider you for any potential job opportunities. To be considered for job opportunities for those yet to graduate, proof of graduation must be uploaded to the Education section of your Candidate Profile no later than July 31, 2024.

Please note:

  • Your application will not be considered further if your proof of graduation is not uploaded as specified (candidates who already graduated: at the time of application; candidates who have not yet graduated: by July 31, 2024).
  • Certificate programs will not be considered for this staffing process.
  • *Proof of graduation may include:
    • Scanned or downloaded copy of your degree/diploma and/or your official/unofficial transcript from your institution.
      • The above documents must indicate the date your degree/diploma was conferred, along with your name, institution name and level of education (diploma/degree/masters/PhD). We will not be accepting future dated documents.
    • If the name on your proof of graduation and/or transcripts does not match your Candidate Profile, please attach documentation to support the name change to your application (e.g.: marriage certificate, Certificate of Change of Name). 
    • If your education credentials are foreign, you must have your documentation evaluated for Canadian equivalency by an organization that completes International Credential Evaluation. Please visit the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials for more information and list of acceptable organizations.
    • All documents must be legible and not password protected in order to be considered.
    • Education documentation that can be edited will not be accepted.

 

Education requirements for SP05 Accounting Positions

For candidates applying to SP-05 positions requiring knowledge of Accounting, you must have:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Intermediate Financial Reporting 2 or FA3 or Intermediate Financial Accounting 2 or Intermediate Accounting 2.

In addition to providing proof of graduation, you must upload your official/unofficial transcript to the Education section of your Candidate Profile demonstrating that you have obtained the required courses and grades for the accounting equivalency, following the guidelines for due dates noted above.

Please note:

  • Accounting documentation must include the following: your full name, institution name, program name, type of diploma/degree, course name/code, and final course grades.
  • Course codes must be equivalent to those accepted by the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA Canada).
     
  • Candidates with foreign designations will need a letter of good standing (LGS) from one of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) members to establish equivalency to meeting the CRA education requirements for foreign accounting designations.

Specific work experience is not required to apply to this staffing process. However, we are interested in the skillsets you have to offer and encourage you to attach your resume to your application by following this 2-step process:

Assessment

Essential

The essential staffing requirements indicated below will be assessed during the process and may be used to identify candidates for positions. You will be notified in advance of any asset requirements to be evaluated.

  • Performance Validation
  • Korn Ferry Unsupervised Internet Testing (UIT)*
  • Locally Developed Assessment Test
  • For bilingual positions only: Second Language Evaluation (SLE)  
    • If you have valid SLE results that do not appear in your Candidate Profile, please upload and attach the documents to your application.
  • For positions within the Collections and Verifications Branch only: Accounting Level 1 - Multiple choice test (AC-MCT-1): Pass Mark 16/32 or Educational Equivalent:

*The Korn Ferry Unsupervised Internet Testing (UIT) will be the first step in this staffing process. The staffing board will only screen applications for candidates who pass the assessment.

Assessments will primarily take place between November 2023 and January 2024. Additional assessments for candidates graduating in 2024 will be done at later date. You will need to have access to a computer/other device with access to the internet, and a phone line to participate in these assessments. The use of a webcam may also be required. 

If you fail to attend your scheduled testing or interview session, you will be deemed to have withdrawn from this process and will not be considered further. Assessments will only be rescheduled for exceptional circumstances, and the staffing board will make these decisions on a case by case basis.

All interactions throughout this staffing process, including email communications, may be reviewed by the staffing board to ensure candidates act in accordance with the CRA's Core Values. Candidates who contravene one or more of the CRA's Core Values throughout the course of this staffing process may not be considered further.

In the case of applicants previously terminated or rejected on probation from positions within the CRA, please note that additional verifications will be conducted. Based on the reasons for termination or rejection, an applicant may not be considered further in the staffing process/considered for appointment, as they may be deemed to not meet one or more of the staffing criteria.
